Hop' n' Slide
Hop’ n’ Slide was written for The University of Texas at Tyler Saxophone Ensemble to be performed at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in 2024. This is meant as a concert opener or closer. The work has a very rhythmic and articulate melody with stacked harmony around it. The melody is forward focusing causing the performers to always be at the front of the beat while the accompaniment parts are at the end of the beat. There is the fight between the rhythmic motion of the melody and the accompaniment which brings its own challenges.
